Job Opportunity - Provisions Coordinator

The Nova Scotia Sea School is seeking a Provisions Coordinator starting ASAP. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Provisions Coordinator will support food sourcing, preparation, and packing for sailing and wilderness expeditions.Please read job description below:

Ends: August 31
13 week contract, 30 hours per week
Wage: $15 / hour

    Job Requirements
  • Candidate must be 19 or older
  • Candidate must have regular access to a vehicle for food shopping and logistics (mileage will be covered but position is based in Lunenburg so no commuting to work will be covered)
  • Candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and at times many days in a row. Heaviest part of season is July and weekends in June. For complete schedule please contact the office
  • Candidate must be enrolled in a post secondary school program for the fall
    Priorities
  • Source food sponsorships from a variety of local vendors
  • Meet Sea School mandate by purchasing and packing healthy, local food menus for expeditions
  • Help to oversee maintenance and operations of our Lunenburg Boathouse
    Food / Kitchen Duties
  • Complete a pre and post season inventory of food stocks
  • Prepare feast meals at the end of each trip
  • Supervise youth before and after trips
  • Maintain a clean and healthy kitchen / food prep area
  • Support other program logistics
  • Learn safety management procedures and respond to emergencies when needed
    Administrative Duties
  • Update Provisions manual and menu plans throughout the summer
  • Document sponsorship / donations
  • Manage food budget
  • Track receipts and reimbursements and submit to bookkeeper
    Assets
  • Food Handlers Course
  • First Aid training
  • Experience with outdoor expedition food-packing and logistics
  • Experience working with youth as a supervisor and or coordinator
